Hospitalist Services
If you are admitted to TriStar Greenview, there’s a good chance that the physician who cares for you during your hospitalization will be a hospitalist. Hospitalists are physicians responsible for managing patient care and treatment on a daily basis from the time a patient is admitted to the hospital until they are discharged. Hospitalist physicians are specially trained to meet your needs in the hospital. They spend their days in the hospital so any urgent needs can be addressed in a timely fashion.
Unlike your family doctor, hospitalists do not see patients in a clinic, instead choosing to devote themselves to seeing patients in the hospital full time. The Hospitalist Service is valuable because patients often went to an office appointment and were delayed because their physician was at the hospital to see a patient. In other instances a hospitalized patient’s care or discharge may have been delayed waiting for the physician to be able to come to the hospital. The hospitalist service helps patients have consistent care at the office and the hospital.
The hospitalists at TriStar Greenview are board certified in Internal Medicine. Because they work as a team, you may see more than one during your hospital stay. Our three hospitalists are happy to answer your questions regarding your plan of care.

At TriStar Greenview, almost 2,000 patients were admitted through the hospitalist program last year alone. Patients can be admitted to the hospitalist in one of two ways. Many physicians in traditional practices choose to admit to the hospitalist due to high office volumes or other time-constraint issues that prohibit them from rounding on their patients who are being treated as inpatients, temporarily transferring charge to the hospitalist while the patient is hospitalized. After discharge, the patient sees the primary care physician as determined. Also, if patients are admitted to a hospital and they do not have a primary care physician, the hospitalist leads their care during their hospitalization.
